Welcome to Fluid Metrics, a different kind of compressor company. Thanks for visiting. I’m Will Hurley, the founder of Fluid Metrics and a Mechanical Engineer with a passion for solving problems. During my 35+ year career in the compressor industry, one of the most frequent complaints heard from users is about the excessive time, manpower and money spent on their compressors’ maintenance.
An Oil Company Disguised as a Compressor CompanyHaving worked for major compressor OEMs and their distributors for decades, it was immediately obvious that their business model was, and still is, laser focused on their highly profitable “aftermarket” parts & service business. If I heard it once I heard it a thousand times that we (OEM distributor) were an “oil company disguised as a compressor company”. This always stuck with me as it emphasized just how important recurring aftermarket sales are to the compressor OEMs and their distributors. For most compressor companies, recurring oil, parts and service sales generate the bulk of their profits. Make no mistake about it, the compressor OEMs and their distributors want to sell you as much high-margin oil and “consumable” parts as possible. And they’ve strategically tailored their maintenance manuals, service agreements and extended warrantees all in an effort to accomplish just that. Recognizing that the OEMs’ interests were not aligned with their customers’ interest to reduce maintenance costs, I had to look elsewhere for solutions. First, I found that many industries had abandoned the outdated “time-based” preventative maintenance promoted by the OEMs and replaced it with more effective and economical “condition-based” Reliability-centered maintenance (RCM). Second, I also learned that simple fluid conditioning technologies were available that were proven to dramatically extend oil service life and slash expensive oil purchases, waste oil disposal and environmental impact. Third, and perhaps the most alarming, I discovered that more than one of the compressor OEMs were fully aware of these money-saving technologies, but chose to keep them secret and deprive their customers from their many benefits.
We Want You to Buy as Little Oil as PossibleArmed with solutions, Fluid Metrics opened our doors in 2003 to deliver these cost-cutting technologies to air compressor users around the world. Our team of Engineers and Chemists are committed to leveraging the best available technologies and practices to deliver the ultimate in compressor reliability, economy and sustainability. Today, Fluid Metrics products are being used successfully by many of the world’s largest air compressor users and cutting their oil consumption by more than 80%! That’s why when we say “We want you to buy as little oil as possible”, we really mean it! So if you’re serious about improving compressor reliability, reducing maintenance costs and protecting the environment, contact us today so we can show you how it’s done.
For more than 15 years Fluid Metrics has blazed a new trail helping air compressor users save time and money by simplifying and optimizing their compressor maintenance. Our easy-to-use products and best maintenance practices target the root causes of oil degradation, wear, corrosion and fouling that are responsible for premature replacement of compressor oils, separators and other costly components. Our revolutionary Compressor Oil Purifiers and PuroLube XTEND Additives significantly increase the service life of expensive compressor fluids and components to eliminate most of the time-based “preventative maintenance” still promoted by the OEMs. Fluid Metrics’ products and reliability-centered maintenance have set a new standard in compressor maintenance and our customers thank us for it every day.
